Her white smile contrasted sharply against her bright blue hair. She was a talkative and funny young lady who enjoyed being silly and telling jokes with her friends. She seemed to be enjoying her week…

During our last evening meeting on every Mission Discovery mission trip the students are the camp speakers. We ask them this simple yet challenging question: What are you taking home? With this question the hope is that students will focus on how their mission trip week has impacted and possibly even changed their lives. This is always one of my favorite times of the week as I am often surprised by the powerful words spoken and the sincere life change that has taken place.

Blue haired Alexis stood up to share in front of the group on our last night together. Without the slightest bit of nervousness or hesitation she shared from her heart that this week long mission trip taught her that “God works everywhere. He works in a church, in a preschool, and under a bridge. Not just in his church.” That week her team served in each of these locations mentioned, as well as various other locations, and it became clear to her that God is always at work and he works everywhere!

Alexis gets it! She was excited to get back home and be on the lookout for what God is doing in her own community. This is only one of many stories of the life change that happens on these trips. I am so grateful to be part of what God is doing in people’s lives through the ministry of Mission Discovery.

Philippians 1:6- “There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.”
