Jamaica Women's Mission Trip

Help change your world and theirs! It's a week of service and refreshment for ladies. You've seen Jamaica's beautiful beaches and tourist destinations featured in television commercials. But behind the scenes of the city are communities struggling like never before. 69.2% of people living in Jamaica make their living from service industries like hotels. In the world's new economy, fewer people are vacationing, and so unemployment is rising. With the rise of unemployment come the side effects.

Off the beaten path near Montego Bay, Jamaica you'll travel to the Jamaica Christian School for the Deaf.  There you'll work alongside passionate men and women committed to the education of Jamaica's deaf children.  For many years Mission Discovery has partnered with JCSD through connecting U.S. donors with a student that they can sponsor.  This program, called HOLD the Children, provides needed funds to supplement tuition paid by parents.  Mission Discovery mission teams have helped build classrooms, a vocational training facility and dorm rooms for children.  You and other ladies get to continue this work of love.  You'll help in the physical work of maintaing the school as well as have ministry outreach opportunities in the surrounding community.  Each evening you'll worship together and relax back at one of Montego Bay's quaint family-owned hotels overlooking the bay.

This is a week to focus on women and their needs. A time to challenge women to explore how they might be a greater part of being the hands and feet of Christ in Jamaica.

The last day of your mission trip is set aside for shopping and relaxing on Montego Bay's Hip Strip!  It's filled with festive shops and is the location of Doctor's Cave private beach where you'll relax and unwind from your week of hard work.

  • Lodging:  Teams are housed at a local Montego Bay hotel.  It is just a short drive from the airport.
  • Food:  One of the experiences of every Mission Discovery camp is the attention to providing good food!  Breakfast and dinner meals are prepared buffet style by the wonderful hotel staff.  Lunches are sandwiches on the worksite.
  • Transportation:  Once you land in Montego Bay, all your ground transportation is taken care of by Mission Discovery.
  • Daily Work:  Daily work includes painting, various school repair projects, assisting in classrooms and a local outreach to children through children's Bible school.
