Please begin by reading 1 John 2:18-29

There are some things that simply come with the territory.” Maybe you have heard this statement, maybe not. However, the truth behind it is evident. Your parents gave you a name at birth. This name is more than a series of letters making up a nice sound called your name – it is your identity! For the rest of your like you will be known as Mike, Susan, or whatever. It is part of the territory of being human. Maybe you are a student. If not, remember when you were. To succeed as a student you will need to study – it is a part of the territory of being in school.

The same can be said of you this week. Because you are a missionary, certain things come with the territory, such as; providing physical assistance for those you are serving, teaching children about Jesus and relating to those who you serve. This is all part of the territory being light in a dark world.

Even more important are the things that come with the territory of being in Jesus Himself. Just as your name, there is an identity when you are called Christian, like being called an American. Read 1 John 2:18-29. These are some questions that will help you answer what territory comes with being a Christian, making a difference in a dark world.

1) Just because you call yourself something, does this mean you are?

2) What must accompany a statement like that? (1 John 2:18-19)

3) What is part of the territory of being a Christian? (1 John 2:20-25) note: the word “anointing” is simply understood as having power of God to live as a Christian.

4) Who is your strength when being light? (1 John 2:26-29)
