A MINISTRY UPDATE AND AN INVITATION FOR ALL

The staff at Mission Discovery are centered around the idea that knowing Jesus changes lives and communities. Simply stated: We want the world to know Him, and love Him.

It’s an experience second to none. When we go on a mission trip, we come home changed. Every Mission Discovery staff member encountered God in a revolutionary way when we went on our first trip. In fact, we are still discovering God in new ways as we lead teams of all ages into foreign and domestic lands. Currently, we have more people signed up for mission trips in 2019 than we could have imagined. We are growing! And that’s good because more people on trips means more lives dedicated to the cause of Christ. Our invitation is simple: Come and see how God is working in the world. It will change your world!

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THEIR MISSION TRIP

My daughter and I had an amazing trip. It was the perfect trip to introduce my 10 year old to missions. I will definitely be looking for more trips to go on with Mission Discovery for myself and my family! The staff was super helpful in all aspects from getting ready, while we were there, getting home, and afterward!   – Rebecca B.

Another phenomenal mission trip in the books!! Love Mission Discovery and Maury is so awesome of a leader and has such a servant’s heart, blessed to be a part of his final “official” mission trip!   – Donna W

A NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT

What a truly amazing year! Mission Discovery is in a fresh, new season. There have been so many changes, and we know that God has been in the middle of them all.

Many of you are already aware, but after 27 years of faithful service, Maury Buchanan retired as President of Mission Discovery. Along with this major change, we said farewell to Rich Rohde, director of Hold the Children, as he retired in May. (See the Hold the Children section to find out more information regarding this transition.)

Over the course of several years, our Board of Directors developed a transition plan for these events, and implementation began January 1, 2018. With their encouragement and trust, I have been named President of Mission Discovery. The great news is that we are building upon an incredibly solid foundation, and we are making strides to advance God’s kingdom!

We are still wholeheartedly committed to the mission and ministry of Mission Discovery, and we ask you, as our donors and ministry supporters, to keep us lifted in prayer.

Jimmy Rivera – President of Mission Discovery

AN UPDATE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF HOLD THE CHILDREN

The remarkable work of Mission Discovery’s HOLD the Children program continues to change thousands of children’s lives through education and orphan care every single day.

HOLD director Rich Rohde retired in May of this year and Courtney Rivera is now responsible for the program. As of this year, HOLD partners with 12 schools in 3 different countries to help provide education to more than 2,500 children in need. Also through this ministry, 45 abandoned children have a place to call home. Our HOLD Home orphanage sustained damage in a recent earthquake and is in need of repair, but we thank God for his protection in keeping all of our children and staff safe.

HOLD the Children has experienced much progress this year and we look forward to all God has in store as we continue moving forward.

Courtney Rivera – Director of HOLD the Children
