Mission Discovery teams are partnering with a local church in Bluefield, West Virginia for the first time this summer. We will be serving throughout the area and working to make a difference in the community as we do mission work together.
The town of Bluefield is the perfect location for an Appalacian mission trip. It’s rich history is a testament to the hard work and sacrifice of those who have lived there for many years. Once a thriving coal-mining town, the economy has struggled over the years. The mission trip gives students a chance to explore and serve in this wonderful place, giving back as they go.
The Appalachian Mountains stretch through much of West Virginia and offer endless opportunities for exploration. Everyone will be doing mission work throughout the Bluefield area but we’ll also take time out to enjoy these beautiful mountains. This trip will be unique because there is a day off built into the schedule.
One of the highlights of this mission trip will be the block party at the church on Friday. We will grill out and invite members of the community to join us for an afternoon of fun. There will be games and activities for all ages. The mission work we do in Bluefield is important, especially those tasks that allow us to connect with members of the cummunity.
