MAYFIELD, KENTUCKY

In December 2021, residents of Mayfield, Kentucky were startled awake by a devastating tornado. As light broke, there was only leveled building to be seen. In a matter of minutes, people who had been sleeping were homeless. Mayfield residents have shown great resilience and have made the most of their situation, but it has come with a high cost. Although FEMA is present and assisting, they do not provide the care that comes through local churches and agencies like Mission Discovery.

Mission Discovery provides an opportunity for church groups of all sizes to go on life-changing mission trips. Teams are able to serve the poor, disadvantaged, and marginalized both domestically and internationally through various forms of ministry including construction projects, disaster relief work (both short-term and long-term), community outreach, medical and dental work, working with the elderly or children in orphanages, etc. The purpose of these trips is to assist local churches in meeting physical needs while sharing the hope of Jesus Christ.

Join us as we visit Mayfield, Kentucky to help the community by cleaning, and building in the local community.

Daily Work Assignments:

  • Each day your team will be sent out to home sites to repair, repaint, and replace what was lost during the storm. A mixture of skilled and unskilled labor is welcome. All of our work will be directed by our local church contacts.
  • We will be part of a larger vision to bring healing to the neighborhoods. Our staff will be on hand to help guide your team.
