SOLOLA, GUATEMALA

SOLOLA, GUATEMALA

Sololá, Guatemala is situated 600 meters above Lake Atitlan, which locals claim to be the “Most Beautiful Lake in the World”.  This is a three hour drive from Guatemala City. We will partner with a local school and children’s home overlooking the lake.  The ministry location is a residential home and school for children who have asked Mission Discovery teams to be a part of the ongoing construction and maintainance of the grounds and facility with lots of time to spend with the children and incredible staff who live and work there.

Our team will have opportunities to aid teachers, work with children with special needs, and help care for the children staying at the home.  We will also get our hands dirty with paint, and help with construction efforts on the grounds.  Of course, there is always cleaning and caring of the grounds that must be done as well.

Lake Atitlan is a beautiful lake surrounded by inactive volcanoes and small towns filled with Mayan cluture.  We will visit one of these towns on our day off to shop and experience the culture.

While in Sololá, your team will sleep in a cabin located on the grounds of a children’s home. There will be multiple bunks with a shared bathroom.

Daily Work Assignments:

  • Construction: Your team will work on the grounds of the children’s home.
  • Children’s Bible School: Your team will help lead a children’s Bible school.
  • Child Care: Your team will be caring for children living at the children’s home.

Yes. Our mission trip teams have tons of individual volunteers. We do, however, need to have at least 20 volunteers sign up for a trip to make it happen. If you sign up for a trip and we do not get enough volunteers, you will have the option to join another team or join a trip in the future. We will also issue a refund if you are not interested serving on another trip.
