WAVERLY, TENNESSEE

WAVERLY, TENNESSEE

In August, 2021, the small rural town of Waverly, Tennessee was hit with one of the worst floods ever recorded. 17 inches fell in less than 24 hours, breaking all previous records for rainfall there and causing devastating damage across an entire region including rivers bursting their banks which submerged homes under water.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee toured the area, calling it a “devastating picture of loss and heartache.” Homes were washed off their foundations and all around the county was debris from wrecked cars, demolished businesses and homes and a chaotic, tangled mix of people’s lives. At one point the city of Waverly was only accessible by boat. At least 22 people lost their lives in the flood waters.

The Mission Discovery team is mobilizing groups of volunteers to help those affected by the recent floods in the Waverly community. We will be working with local ministries and other agencies to provide for the needs of the devastated neighborhoods.

The time for recovery has come – join us for an unforgettable mission trip to Waverly, Tennessee so that God can use this disaster relief effort not only to help heal broken lives, but also to draw people closer to Himself.
