Known for its cobblestone streets and colonial architecture, Antigua is the cultural hub of Guatemala drawing tourists from all around the world.
But on its outskirts are families who struggle to earn enough money for basic food and shelter. Children as young as seven often give up the chance for education to help sustain their families. Your mission: join forces with local ministries to disrupt the cycle of poverty by providing hands-on help through construction projects and Children’s Bible school. Your work will serve to brighten the future of Guatemala.
The last day of your mission trip is set aside for souvenir shopping, relaxing, and exploring the ancient historical town of Antigua!
Daily Work Assignments:
Construction: Your team may build a home for a family in need, a chicken coop, or a cooking stove.
Children’s Bible School: Your team will help lead a children’s Bible school that could attract over 100 children.
Distribution: Your team may distribute water filters, or grocery items to members of the community
Yes. Our mission trip teams have tons of individual volunteers. We do, however, need to have at least 20 volunteers sign up for a trip to make it happen. If you sign up for a trip and we do not get enough volunteers, you will have the option to join another team or join a trip in the future. We will also issue a refund if you are not interested serving on another trip.
Teams are housed at a local hotel that provides a place to relax and unwind at the end of each workday. The hotel features a swimming pool.
Fly into GUA. Once your team arrives in Guatemala City, all of your ground transportation is organized by Mission Discovery staff members.
Breakfast and dinner are prepared buffet style by the hotel staff. Lunches are sandwiches on the worksite.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUTGUATEMALATRIPS
7th international trip led by Mission Discovery. The organization is blessed to have good Godly leaders whose hearts balance the challenges that come with running a trip for novices in a foreign land. Your organization is truly blessed by God. Keep up the great work. It truly changes lives!
I enjoyed meeting Nathan and having him lead our group. I was disappointed he did not learn our names, but I know he was extra busy with having 5 sites to oversee. Song leader Elena made the most personal connection of all staff members and her story was deeply moving to many of our teens. The interns (Kelly and Ashley) were less well-received. Ashley in particular was rather cold and the teens felt she was cutting them down rather than lifting them up. I believe it’s a reflection of her age & a need to mature more before being viewed as a mentor and leader.
From the work to the worship, to the logistics to the spirit and hearts of the Mission Discovery staff, our experience was world-class and one we will always treasure!
The Mission Discovery people were the best. The trip was excellent… well organized and worthwhile.
I had an amazing experience in Guatemala! The service experience, which was perfectly ran, was truly an awesome opportunity to not only learn about a new culture, but also to help to Guatemalan people.
I love the group aspect and worship every night.
Mission Discovery runs an incredible trip to Guatemala.
I loved everything about mission discovery. You can tell that they are passionate about helping others
