At Mission Discovery, we have a lot of different types of mission trips. We have medical trips, educational trips, construction trips, and more. But all our trips have one thing in common — they aim to glorify God and carry out His will. This isn’t only the purpose of the work we do here at Mission Discovery, but it should also be every Christian’s mission. So, how can we carry out this mission in our day-to-day life? Here are four suggestions to get you started.

1. Live Out the Faith

Firstly, glorifying God needs to be something we as Christians are doing all the time. We are called to let our actions, our words, and our love reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ. From the moment we wake up to the time we rest our heads, our mission is clear: to spread the incredible news of salvation through Jesus. In Galatians 2:20, Paul says, “It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live, I live in the flesh by faith in the son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” It is vital for us as Christians to understand that in this life we live, we are no longer living for ourselves, but for God, who gave us His one and only begotten Son that we may have eternal life (John 3:16).

2. The Great Commission: Our Bold Adventure

Another way we glorify God is through what we often call The Great Commission. In Matthew 28:19-20, we’re called to “go and make disciples of all nations.” This mission is just as relevant today as it was when Jesus first commanded it of His disciples. As Christians, we have the privilege to be a part of a movement and a calling that knows no bounds. We have the honor to invite others to serve the God that we so deeply love and who so deeply loves us. Through the grace of God, we have the power to reach out to our communities, cross borders, and engage with diverse cultures to share the good news. It’s not about pushing an agenda; it’s about sharing a life-altering truth that can set hearts free. As we connect with people from all walks of life, we’re fulfilling that mission, one conversation at a time.

3. Walk the Walk: Living Love Out Loud

Galatians 5:22-23 paints a picture of a life infused with the fruit of the Spirit – qualities like kindness, patience, and self-control. Living our faith means letting these qualities shine through us, like a light piercing through the darkness. How we interact with others around us has the ability to change lives. Our faith isn’t confined to the four walls of a church or quiet prayers; we can make a tangible impact in a broken world by choosing to showcase the patience, kindness, and faithfulness of our Lord and Savior, one interaction at a time.

4. Spread God’s Love: The Ripple Effect

Matthew 9:36 gives us a glimpse into Jesus’ heart for the hurting, and that same heart should beat within us. Our mission is to step into that compassion, to be the hands and feet of Christ. It’s about more than just words; it’s about real actions that create a ripple effect. Offering encouragement to someone who’s feeling weary, lending a helping hand to someone in need, lifting up prayers for those facing challenges – these acts of kindness are like stones tossed into a pond, creating waves of love that spread far and wide.

Our Mission, Our Legacy

Our mission as Christians is nothing short of incredible. It’s a mission that calls us to live out our faith in every aspect of our lives and to spread the love of Christ with every step we take. It’s about being agents of change, living embodiments of grace, and illuminating the darkest corners.

As we journey forward, let’s remember the power of our mission – a mission that’s not just a catchphrase, but a spreading of the best news there is. Let’s embrace the call, spread God’s love like crazy, and live out our mission to make the world a better place, one soul at a time.
