John 17:1-5

“God’s kingdom never ends”

Forever is a long time. It is hard to imagine forever today. Everything experienced in life begins and ends, even if there is no current end in sight. History shows enough endings to assure us that most things come to an end.

In God’s Kingdom, things are a little different. The Bible makes clear the simple fact of God’s eternal nature (simply put, he has lived and will live forever). Because He has no beginning or ending, His Kingdom will last forever. Even more exciting is the fact He invites us to live with Him forever, an experience with a beginning but no end!

This week is another experience that began a few short days ago and is almost finished. While many things you encountered this week will end soon, a number of these experiences will be with you forever. What is God’s purpose behind your experience – behind eternity?

Read John 17:1-5. Verse three makes clear the connection between forever and personal relationships with God (the essence of knowing Him). How has your relationship with God changed (matured or enlarged) through your experience this week? What do you think God will do as you leave this mission project and enter into yet another mission field? How will these experiences change your eternity?

Take a moment to think, pray, and dream about forever living in God’s Kingdom.
