Read Luke 5:4-7

Simon was an expert in fishing. He knew all there was to know about it! He’d been a fisherman his whole life, but the knowledge he had gained from a lifetime spent on the water was no help. They had fished all night and not caught a thing. Then Jesus says, “Let down your nets.” And, even though it seemed a silly request to Simon, he did what Jesus asked, and their catch was so great that two boats about to sink.

Today, as you go out to your job site and VBS, leave all your knowledge right here at camp. Don’t let your earthly wisdom get in the way of what God wants to do. We see that even though it was against Simon’s better judgment, he was faithful to the leading of Jesus, and they caught so many fish that their boat was overflowing. God will always bless your work when you let Him guide you. Remember, we’re not talking about fish, we’re talking about lives.

Today let God run the show. 1 Corinthians 1:25 says God’s foolishness is wiser than man’s wisdom, so let God’s wisdom guide you. See how many lives He’ll eternally change because you put away your worldly wisdom and followed His.

What is God asking you to do that the world might consider Foolish?

Think about how you might find God’s wisdom.

Read 1 Corinthians 1:18 – 2:16

Read James 1:5 and use it to guide your prayer this morning.
