People talk about what they love and enjoy – the newest iPhone, Android, super-fast PC or the latest ‘app’. People cheer wildly for their college or pro sports team. People brag about their heroes, or how creative and talented an artist is.
Does God fit into this picture?
God is so awesome – so glorious – so amazing that people everywhere must know He is the supreme Love of the Christian’s life. Jesus Christ is the Hero about all heroes – the One who owns all the bragging rights in the whole universe! He declares, “I am the LORD, and there is none else, … there is no other God besides Me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none except Me. Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other, … to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance” (Isa. 45:18, 21-23).
A Christian’s ultimate love, joy, pleasure, and confidence in life is to be found in a relationship with God. It is what people were created for in the beginning – fellowship with the one and only, glorious triune God. Only through faith in Jesus Christ can a person find true forgiveness, healing, peace, life and satisfaction. Dr. John Piper explained it this way, “God is the most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.”
