Read Luke 10:30-37

Imagine you are walking down a road. On one side of the road, there is a line of people in need. Some of them are simply looking for some money for food. Others are looking for someone to talk to. Some are looking for a shelter for their child. On the other side of the road, there is a clear path to get where you need to go.

Your heart goes out to these people. You would love to help everyone, but today you are really in a hurry. You can’t help everybody all of the time. Surely it would be understandable if you passed them by this one time, right? You could always come back later…

Which side of the road do you walk down?

Read Luke 10:30-37 for a story of a man in need…and the man who felt compassion for him.

“After two men avoided a person in need, a Samaritan refused to pass by on the other side. He felt compassion for the man and helped him to the best of his ability.”

By coming on this mission trip, you are going out of your way to help someone in need. Like the Samaritan, you are seeing the need, feeling compassion, and giving help.

Who are the needy in your life?

Do you ever purposely avoid them?

Do you feel compassion for them?

How can you best help the needy that you meet?

Thank you for not passing by on the other side.
