Imagine if you and a few of your friends were taken from your home and forced to serve in another country. Here, nobody knows your name, nobody speaks your language, nobody eats your food, and nobody serves your God.

Would you conform to their ways?

Would you serve their god?

Would you teach them about your God?

What if it would cost you your life to do so?

This is the situation that Daniel found himself in. held captive in Babylon, he chose not to conform. When asked to disobey food laws that God had set in place, Daniel chose to Obey God. When asked to worship Babylon’s king, Daniel chose to worship God. No matter what situation Daniel found himself in, he remained faithful to what he knew to be true. Daniel never asked to be placed in these circumstances. He never wanted to be taken to Babylon. He never wanted to go against the King of a nation. He definitely never wanted to be thrown into a Lion’s Den for refusing to worship an idol. But through it all, Daniel never wavered. There was never any doubt where his allegiance belonged.

Read Daniel Chapter 6.

Daniel’s faith was genuine. When Daniel was delivered from the Lion’s Den, he did not take credit, but immediately gave glory to God. An entire nation was transformed because Daniel chose to remain faithful to what he knew was true, no matter the circumstance.

As you go throughout this week, may your faith remain genuine…no matter the circumstance.
